Polyurethane Self Smoothing Flooring — Matt & Satin Finishes
Polyurethane self-smoothing systems are flow-applied resin floors that combine the seamless finish of epoxy SL with the flexibility, UV stability and softer underfoot feel of polyurethane. F Wilding Ltd installs PU self-smoothing floors nationwide for schools, offices, showrooms, healthcare and light industrial where a warmer, quieter finish matters.
What is polyurethane self smoothing flooring?
PU self-smoothing systems are two-pack polyurethane resin flow-applied at 2–4 mm, self-levelling to a seamless matt or satin finish. Compared with epoxy SL they're slightly more flexible, don't yellow under UV, and give a softer acoustic response.
Where it's used
Classrooms, university buildings, showrooms, healthcare corridors, retail, offices, light manufacturing — anywhere the finish will be seen, walked on frequently, or exposed to natural light.
Key benefits
Why UK commercial and industrial specifiers choose polyurethane self smoothing flooring for their sites:
- Matt, satin or gloss finish
- UV stable — will not yellow
- Warmer & quieter than epoxy underfoot
- Seamless, hygienic finish
- Wide colour range including decorative flakes
- Coved detailing available
Our installation approach
Every install starts with a free site survey to confirm the substrate is fit for the specified system. We mechanically prepare the concrete (diamond grinding, shot blasting or scabbling depending on the resin), install any DPM, primers and repairs required, apply the resin build-up in coats to the specified thickness, and hand over with a written warranty and maintenance schedule. Nationwide, with experienced resin flooring teams.
Frequently asked questions
Is PU self-smoothing the same as PU HF screed?+
No — different systems for different jobs. HF screeds are 6–12 mm trowelled cementitious PU for heavy wet/thermal industrial. Self-smoothing is 2–4 mm flow-applied PU for finished commercial and public spaces.
Can it take forklift traffic?+
Occasional pallet-truck traffic yes; regular forklift traffic no — for that we'd specify PU HF screed or a heavy-duty epoxy SL.
What warranty do you provide?+
A written 5-year product-and-installation warranty is standard on all supply-and-install projects. Some systems (PU screeds, MMA) can be extended to 7–10 years subject to specification and client maintenance regime.
Do you cover the whole UK?+
Yes. F Wilding Ltd is Essex-based but the majority of our contracts are outside the South East — London, the Midlands, the North West, Yorkshire, the North East, Wales, Scotland and the South West. Travel, accommodation and out-of-hours access are priced into every quote.
