Polyurethane Cement Flooring — Industrial & Food-Grade PU Systems

Polyurethane cement is a family of hybrid resin systems combining polyurethane's flexibility and chemical resistance with the impact and thermal-shock performance of a cementitious screed. F Wilding Ltd installs PU cement floors between 3 mm (self-levelling) and 9 mm (heavy-duty trowelled) across food, beverage and industrial sites nationwide.

What is polyurethane cement flooring?

PU cement is a three-component system: polyurethane resin, hardener and cementitious aggregate. The cementitious content gives it the flexural strength to cope with thermal shock and heavy impact; the polyurethane resin gives it chemical resistance and hygienic sealing.

Where it's used

Wherever the environment involves a combination of chemistry, hot water, thermal cycling and physical loading — food and beverage processing, breweries, wet manufacturing, engineering plant rooms, chemical handling areas.

Key benefits

Why UK commercial and industrial specifiers choose polyurethane cement flooring for their sites:

  • 3–9 mm thickness options
  • Excellent thermal shock resistance
  • Broad chemical resistance
  • HACCP-compliant seamless finish
  • Anti-slip broadcast options
  • Coving and falls-to-drain compatible

Our installation approach

Every install starts with a free site survey to confirm the substrate is fit for the specified system. We mechanically prepare the concrete (diamond grinding, shot blasting or scabbling depending on the resin), install any DPM, primers and repairs required, apply the resin build-up in coats to the specified thickness, and hand over with a written warranty and maintenance schedule. Nationwide, with experienced resin flooring teams.

Frequently asked questions

How does PU cement compare with epoxy?+

PU cement handles temperature cycling and heavy impact far better than epoxy — steam cleaning, hot oil, thermal shock don't cause delamination. Epoxy remains the more cost-effective choice for dry, ambient industrial floors.

How long before we can walk on it?+

Foot traffic 12–24 hours after installation; full mechanical loading 3–5 days.

What warranty do you provide?+

A written 5-year product-and-installation warranty is standard on all supply-and-install projects. Some systems (PU screeds, MMA) can be extended to 7–10 years subject to specification and client maintenance regime.

Do you cover the whole UK?+

Yes. F Wilding Ltd is Essex-based but the majority of our contracts are outside the South East — London, the Midlands, the North West, Yorkshire, the North East, Wales, Scotland and the South West. Travel, accommodation and out-of-hours access are priced into every quote.
