Why epoxy flooring?
Epoxy sits at the sweet spot of price, durability and finish quality. A well-prepared epoxy coating turns a dusty, staining concrete slab into a bright, sealed floor that can take pallet trucks, forklifts, oil, water, cleaning chemicals and daily abuse for a decade or more. Compared with polyurethane it's a bit cheaper per m² and gives a harder, glossier finish; compared with painted floors it lasts many times longer and looks like a specified industrial surface — not a DIY job.
Where epoxy flooring is used — with a focus on warehouses
Warehousing is the single biggest use case we install for. Modern DCs push enormous loads through their floors — Class 4/5 slabs punished by fully-laden pallet trucks, reach trucks and MHE traffic 24/7. A specified epoxy system does three things at once: it seals the concrete against dusting and oil pick-up (so you're not tracking dirt into product), it delivers a bright, reflective surface that lifts light levels and reduces energy bills, and it gives you a canvas for full aisle marking, safety walkways and racking-bay numbering.

Not every epoxy is the same. The system we specify depends on the substrate, traffic type, chemical exposure, cleaning regime and required finish.
How we install epoxy warehouse flooring
The single biggest determinant of an epoxy floor's life is preparation. We shot-blast or diamond-grind every slab to expose fresh, absorbent concrete — never chemical etch, never overpaint. We then treat any cracks, spalls or joints, prime the substrate with the correct primer for its moisture content, and apply the specified epoxy build-up in two or three coats depending on the system. For live warehouse installs we phase the work by aisle or racking bay, so operations continue in the rest of the facility while we work.

Roller-applied thin coating that seals concrete with a tough, chemical-resistant surface. Ideal for warehouses on a budget. Smooth or slip-resistant finish.
Epoxy Self-Level / SL (2–4 mm)
Flow-applied system that self-smooths for a seamless, level, hard-wearing floor. Perfect for showrooms, production floors and higher-traffic warehouses.
Anti-static Epoxy (ESD)
Specified where electronics, powders or fuels are handled. Provides controlled surface resistance.

How much does epoxy flooring cost per m² in a warehouse?+
A standard 2-coat epoxy high-build on sound concrete typically prices from £22/m². A 3-coat system with anti-slip aggregate runs £28–£35/m². Epoxy SL at 2–4 mm is usually £45–£65/m². Full survey required for a fixed price.
How long does epoxy warehouse flooring last?+
In a distribution centre with MHE traffic, a correctly specified epoxy floor lasts 10–15 years before it needs a recoat. Substrate preparation is the biggest factor — cutting corners here is why some epoxy floors fail early.
Can you install epoxy while the warehouse is operating?+
Yes. We phase installations by racking bay or aisle so operations continue in the rest of the facility. We also work nights and weekends where required, and can use fast-cure systems that return an area to service within 24 hours.
Is epoxy flooring slip-resistant?+
Standard epoxy is glossy; we add graded aluminium oxide or quartz aggregate broadcast between coats to hit any required PTV / R-rating for wet areas, ramps and loading bays.
What preparation is needed before epoxy is installed?+
The concrete must be shot-blasted or diamond-ground to open the surface, moisture-tested, and any cracks or spalls repaired. This is included in our fixed-price quote — we do not sub the prep out.
Can you line-mark the floor after installation?+
Yes — we install aisle marking, racking bay numbers, hazard hatching and pedestrian walkways as part of the same visit.
