Most resin floors don't need ripping out — they need refurbishing. A worn, faded or partially failed floor can usually be brought back to a factory-fresh specification for a fraction of the cost of full replacement, without the concrete removal, disposal and downtime that a rip-out involves. Signs your resin floor is ready for refurbishment
Not every worn resin floor needs work — but a floor that's dusting, staining, losing its slip-resistance or peeling at joints is telling you it's coming to the end of its useful surface life. Left too long, water and contamination reach the substrate and turn a straightforward refurb into a rip-out. Warning signs we look for during a refurbishment survey:
- Loss of gloss and colour across trafficked aisles
- Powdering or dusting when cleaned
- Blistering, delamination or peeling at joints and drains
- Failed anti-slip aggregate — floor becoming slippery when wet
- Chemical staining that won't clean off
- Cracks tracking through the coating from the concrete below
Our refurbishment process
Every refurb starts with a survey to determine what can stay and what has to come off. Sound, well-bonded resin can be diamond-ground back to a mechanical key and re-coated. Failed, delaminating or contaminated areas are shot-blasted or planed back to bare concrete. We repair substrate defects, re-prime with the correct primer for the moisture content, and re-install the specified system — often upgraded (e.g. from a basic epoxy to a heavier-duty polyurethane) if the operation has moved on since the original install.
Refurbishment vs full replacement
A refurbishment typically costs 40–60% of a full new-build resin floor and takes half the time. Rip-out only becomes the right option when the underlying concrete slab has failed, when the existing resin contains contaminants that can't be removed, or when the client wants a fundamentally different build-up (e.g. adding a DPM under a floor that never had one). We advise honestly — if a refurb won't last, we'll tell you.

Frequently asked questions
Will a refurbished floor last as long as a new one?+
If the substrate and existing bond are sound and the correct prep is done, a refurbished floor will match the service life of a new install. We won't quote a refurb where we don't believe it will last.
Do we have to close the whole site?+
No. We phase refurb work by bay, aisle or zone, and use fast-cure MMA or polyaspartic top coats where a single continuous shutdown isn't possible.
Can you work around a live operation?+
Almost every project we run is on a working site. We phase installs by bay, aisle or zone, work nights and weekends where required, and specify fast-cure MMA or polyaspartic systems on jobs where a single continuous shutdown isn't possible.
What warranty do you provide?+
A written 5-year product-and-installation warranty is standard on all supply-and-install projects. Some systems (PU screeds, MMA) can be extended to 7–10 years subject to specification and client maintenance regime.

Yes. F Wilding Ltd is Essex-based but the majority of our contracts are outside the South East — London, the Midlands, the North West, Yorkshire, the North East, Wales, Scotland and the South West. Travel, accommodation and out-of-hours access are priced into every quote.
