Diamond Grinding — Specialist Concrete Surface Preparation
Diamond grinding is the most controllable, most versatile method of preparing concrete for a resin flooring installation. Using rotating diamond-segment tooling on a planetary grinder, we remove laitance, level surfaces, key existing coatings and profile the substrate to the exact CSP (concrete surface profile) required for the specified resin system. What is diamond grinding?
Diamond grinding uses metal-bonded diamond segments on a rotating head to abrade the concrete surface. Grit sizes and bond hardness are matched to the substrate: soft-bond diamonds for hard concrete, hard-bond for soft or contaminated substrates. A variable-speed HTC or Husqvarna machine tied to a HEPA vacuum captures all dust.

The go-to prep method for almost every internal resin flooring install: new-build slabs, existing painted floors that need keying, oil-contaminated garages, hard/polished screeds, laitance removal on freshly-poured concrete.

We carry out surface preparation as a standalone service for main contractors and other resin installers, and as a fully integrated phase of our own supply-and-install projects. Nationwide plant, direct labour, HEPA dust extraction and out-of-hours access as standard.
Frequently asked questions
Is diamond grinding dusty?+
The grinding process is inherently dusty but our machines are permanently connected to HEPA industrial vacuums that capture >99% of the dust at source. Adjacent operating areas are unaffected.
Diamond grinding vs shot blasting — which is best?+
Grinding gives a smoother, more controllable finish and is dust-extracted. Shot blasting produces a rougher CSP and is faster on very large areas but throws more dust. We choose based on the resin system, coverage and site constraints.
Can you work around a live operation?+
Almost every project we run is on a working site. We phase installs by bay, aisle or zone, work nights and weekends where required, and specify fast-cure MMA or polyaspartic systems on jobs where a single continuous shutdown isn't possible.
Do you cover the whole UK?+
Yes. F Wilding Ltd is Essex-based but the majority of our contracts are outside the South East — London, the Midlands, the North West, Yorkshire, the North East, Wales, Scotland and the South West. Travel, accommodation and out-of-hours access are priced into every quote.
